Jim Costa addresses educational, transportation, and housing issues at local events

Jim Costa, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 21st district, has actively voiced his involvement and insights regarding educational and infrastructure progress in his community via social media. A long-serving public official who started his political career in the California State Assembly in 1978, Costa shared his participation and contributions at several important local events.

On April 18, 2025, in a post on Twitter, Costa recounted his speech at the annual TRIO Day at Reedley College, where he emphasized the significance of the TRIO program in paving the way for educational opportunities. Costa stated, "Spoke at the annual TRIO Day at Reedley College to highlight the program’s impact and encourage students to break barriers in pursuit of their education. Because when our students succeed, America succeeds!"

In another post on the same date, Costa elaborated on his participation at the Fresno State Transportation Summit where he contributed to discussions on transportation funding and future directions. Costa said, "Spoke at the @Fresno_State Transportation Summit on the “Transportation Funding & Future Directions” panel. I shared my legislative efforts on transportation and heard directly from students who are shaping the future of transportation!"

Lastly, the congressman attended the grand opening of Reedley’s Guardian Village, celebrating the addition of affordable housing units, an initiative led by Self-Help Enterprises. In his post, Costa remarked, "Spoke at the grand opening of Reedley’s Guardian Village, which provides 48 new affordable housing units by Self-Help Enterprises. We’re working to tackle homelessness in the Valley!"

Jim Costa, born in Fresno, California, graduated from California State University, Fresno in 1974. Since 2005, he has represented California's 21st District in Congress, following his service in the California State Assembly from 1978 to 1994, and in the California Senate from 1994 to 2002.
