Fresno detectives arrest two suspects in connection with Malaga murder

Homicide detectives from the Fresno County Sheriff's Office have arrested two suspects in connection with a murder that occurred in Malaga in 2024. Robert Saldana, aged 42, and Gary Guerra, aged 55, both residents of Fresno, are facing charges related to the incident.

Saldana has been held at the Fresno County Jail since August 2024 following an arrest for robbery. Detectives have now added a murder charge to his record. He is currently not eligible for bail.

Guerra was taken into custody on January 18, 2025. He faces a murder charge with bail set at $1 million.

The case dates back to April 30th, 2024, when a passerby noticed a man lying in an alleyway along S. Frank Ave., between E. Muscat and E. Grand Avenues. The individual reported the sighting to Fresno County Sheriff's dispatchers, prompting deputies to respond to the scene in Malaga. Upon arrival, they found Jonathan Franco, aged 43 and also from Fresno, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to his upper body.
