Jim Costa, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 21st district, shared his perspectives on various issues through a series of tweets. The congressman, who has been in office since 2005 after replacing Cal Dooley, expressed concerns over tariffs, social security, and immigration reform.

On March 5, 2025, Costa stated his position on tariffs by asserting that "Tariffs are a tax on American consumers and producers!"

In another tweet posted shortly after, he criticized President Trump and Elon Musk regarding social security. He wrote that "#SocialSecurity is your hard-earned money, not a handout. Yet, President Trump and his billionaire ally Elon Musk seem to think they have the power to decide whether you get your check. It’s time to stand up for what’s rightfully yours."

Costa also addressed immigration reform later that day. He challenged the commitment of President Trump and House Republicans to this issue by suggesting legislative action: "If President Trump and House Republicans are serious about immigration reform. Let’s bring up @RepSylviaGarcia’s American Dream and Promise Act for a vote!"
