Valley Crime Stoppers has launched an initiative to combat Fentanyl distribution in Fresno, Madera, Kings, and Tulare counties by partnering with local law enforcement agencies. The organization is offering a $1,000 reward for anonymous tips that lead to the arrest of Fentanyl dealers.

Since 2018, over 400 deaths in Fresno County have been attributed to Fentanyl. "This drug is killing our neighbors, co-workers, family members, and friends. We need to come together as a community and do something to stop it," said Valley Crime Stoppers Board President Dale Mendoza. Mendoza co-founded Valley Crime Stoppers in 1993 and emphasized the urgent need for community support for both crime victims and law enforcement.

The organization has teamed up with Outfront Media to display informational billboards across the Valley as part of this campaign.

To qualify for the $1,000 reward, tips must lead to an arrest and be submitted directly to Valley Crime Stoppers via phone at 498-STOP (7867), text by sending "Valley" to 738477, or online at www.valleycrimestoppers.org by clicking on Submit a Tip.

Founded in 1993 as Fresno Area Crime Stoppers, Inc., the organization recently adopted the name Valley Crime Stoppers to reflect its broader mission across the San Joaquin Valley. Their goal is to deter, reduce, and solve crimes by providing cash rewards for anonymous tips leading to arrests through collaborations with law enforcement and media outlets. Over the past three decades, they have distributed nearly $2 million in rewards resulting in more than 13,000 arrests.

The organization consists of 27 volunteer board members, a law enforcement Program Coordinator, and a Program Director who meet monthly with law enforcement representatives to discuss crime trends and significant cases. They actively engage their social media followers by posting daily updates on most-wanted criminals and major crimes while encouraging tip submissions.

Valley Crime Stoppers funds its operations through various fundraisers held throughout the year. Their most notable event is "June Jam," which draws over 1,000 attendees annually. Additionally, some of the funds raised are allocated towards scholarships for students at Fresno City College pursuing careers in law enforcement.

Committed to expanding their reach beyond current counties, Valley Crime Stoppers aims to continue supporting law enforcement efforts through their non-profit initiatives for future generations.
