Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 30-year-old Armando Castro of Fresno. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of burglary, robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of stolen property. Castro has a lengthy criminal history.

On June 7th, deputies responded to a burglar alarm near W. Adams and S. Cherry Avenues, south of Easton. Deputies discovered tools, electric bicycles, and other items had been stolen. Property detectives began an investigation and identified Armando Castro as the primary suspect through evidence collected.

As detectives worked to locate Castro, a home invasion robbery occurred on June 18th near E. Springfield and S. East Avenues. A man armed with a gun forced a 75-year-old woman into a room and ordered her to stay there, threatening to shoot her if she tried to leave. The suspect collected several items around the house and eventually fled with the stolen property. The woman was not injured. Detectives collected evidence that again pointed to Armando Castro as the suspect.

On June 19th, detectives contacted and arrested Castro, who was in possession of some of the stolen items along with a handgun. Detectives served a search warrant at Castro’s home and found property stolen from both the burglary and home invasion robbery. Efforts are underway to return the property to its rightful owners.

Anyone with additional information about Armando Castro is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867 or visit www.valleycrimestoppers.org. You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Reference case #24-6974.
