Detectives from the Fresno County Sheriff's office have apprehended 34-year-old Brandon Borges of Kingsburg on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material. Borges, a registered sex offender previously convicted for committing lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14, was taken into custody and booked into the Fresno County Jail. His bail was set at $40,000, which he has since posted and secured his release.

The arrest followed an investigation by members of the Central Valley Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force who acted on a tip received. On May 10th, detectives approached Borges at his residence in Kingsburg. Following his detention, a search warrant was executed at his house where electronic devices containing digital photos and videos of child sexual abuse material were confiscated.

The ICAC Task Force is an alliance of 64 federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies spread across nine counties in the Central Valley. The organization is committed to safeguarding children online and investigating internet-facilitated crimes against children.

In light of this incident, law enforcement officials are urging the public to exercise caution when browsing websites and social media platforms. They advise parents to monitor their children's internet usage closely and stay informed about the software applications they use. It is also recommended that parents maintain open communication with their children to foster trust. Online predators often masquerade as someone else to ensnare their victims; hence it is crucial to teach children to be skeptical about individuals they interact with online. Commonly used apps by suspects include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, Discord, Kik, MeetMe, and Scout among others. Suspicious behavior should be reported immediately to law enforcement or through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's cyber tip line.
