Narcotics detectives from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Task Force (SITF) have successfully intercepted a large quantity of dangerous pills in a recent operation. A 25-year-old individual identified as Miguel Romero Reyes from Seattle, WA, has been apprehended in connection with the case.
Reyes has been arrested on felony charges of possession of drugs for sale and is currently held in Fresno County Jail on a $200,000 bail. The arrest came after a deputy stopped Reyes on Interstate 5 at Highway 33 near Coalinga and discovered his involvement in drug trafficking. A subsequent search uncovered 50 pounds of counterfeit M30 pills, totaling 200,000 pills with an estimated street value of $600,000.
The seized pills, disguised as Oxycodone Hydrochloride, actually contain a dangerous concentration of Fentanyl, making them potentially fatal if ingested. Authorities have issued a warning to the public, urging individuals who come across these pills to avoid touching or consuming them and instead report their findings to law enforcement promptly.
Sheriff’s Office officials emphasize the importance of only taking prescribed medications from certified sources and adhering to recommended dosages. They advise individuals to verify that the pills received match the description on the prescription label and to consult healthcare professionals if there are any doubts regarding the medication's legitimacy.
In light of this successful operation, the Sheriff’s Office reaffirms its commitment to combatting illegal drug activities and urges the public to report any suspicious behavior anonymously. Tips can be provided through the Narcotics Hotline at 1-800-660-1086 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867, with the potential for a cash reward for valuable information.
The arrest of Miguel Romero Reyes and the seizure of 200,000 Fentanyl pills mark a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to safeguard communities from the dangers of illicit drug distribution.
