Fresno Unified School District issued the following announcement on Jan 6.
Seven Fresno Unified students have been selected to be cohort members of the Community Media Access Collaborative (CMAC) Youth Voices Training Program!
The program is an intensive 14-week documentary filmmaking experience that targets Central Valley students under 18. The program teaches youth how to harness the power of media to tell stories of personal and societal significance through documentary filmmaking.
The district’s College and Career Readiness Department is pleased to announce the selected students: Junious Barnes, Edison High School; Yaeleen Garcia, Roosevelt High School; Jennifer Garcia Villa, Design Science Middle College High School; Laila Jordan, Fresno High School; Brianna Mendoza, Design Science; Ishan Singh, Sunnyside High School; Michael Yamamura, Sunnyside High School. Students will meet once a week virtually January to April.
CMAC, one of Fresno Unified’s many industry partners, is a membership-based, non-profit organization created to help citizens, schools, non-profits and public agencies better connect with community through the use of media. Its mission is to empower voices in the community to promote awareness, understanding, dialogue, and civic engagement by providing media resources and access to training through broadening media literacy.
