Deputies have apprehended Vernon Wells, 58, of Fresno, in connection with the theft of an agricultural shade trailer. The suspect has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges including auto theft, possession of stolen property, and vandalism.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when deputies responded to a report of a stolen agriculture shade trailer at W. Mount Whitney and S. Hayes Avenues near Riverdale. These trailers are used as cooling stations for farmworkers who need breaks from working in hot conditions.

According to authorities, the trailer was equipped with a GPS device that enabled deputies to track it to a commercial property near W. Ashlan and N. Valentine Avenues in Fresno. Upon investigation, Vernon Wells was identified as responsible for the theft, and arrangements were made to return the trailer to its rightful owner.
