The Fresno County Sheriff's Office has introduced an automated system for its non-emergency dispatch line, accessible by dialing (559) 600-3111. This new system is designed to streamline the process of connecting residents with the appropriate departments.

Upon calling, users will first be prompted to select a language. They will then receive instructions to hang up and dial 911 if they are experiencing a life-threatening emergency or witnessing a crime in progress. Additionally, callers have the option to report a crime online by visiting www.fresnosheriff.org.

The automated system offers six touch-key options for direct access to frequently contacted departments:

- Press 1 for the jail

- Press 2 for warrant inquiries

- Press 3 for obtaining a copy of a report or vehicle release

- Press 4 for the Civil Unit

- Press 5 for the CCW Unit

- Press 6 for property release

Callers who remain on the line will be connected with the next available dispatcher.

The implementation aims to optimize time management for both community members and dispatchers. According to the Sheriff's Office, dispatchers often spend significant time transferring calls unrelated to their specialization, which can detract from handling higher-priority emergency calls.

"We appreciate your patience and understanding as we implement this change," stated the Fresno County Sheriff's Office. "We hope it helps you resolve your matter in a more efficient manner."
