Shortly before 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 30th, dispatchers received a call regarding a possible injured man near the intersection of Buttonwillow and Springfield Avenues in Reedley.
Officers with Reedley Police and EMS personnel were first to arrive at the area. They found a man on the ground in an orchard. A further examination revealed the man was deceased.
The deputy coroner at the scene examined the man and found he had injuries consistent with a homicide. Due to this being a county location, homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and began their investigation. The victim was later identified as 46-year-old Santos Rios Ventura. This remains an ongoing investigation, and no arrests have been made.
