At 4:24 pm on Friday, a Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a Yamaha sport motorcycle for a traffic violation near McKinley and Feland Avenues in Fresno. The motorcyclist, who had a female passenger, refused to pull over and led the deputy on a pursuit at moderate speeds. The Sheriff's Office helicopter, EAGLE One, was deployed to assist.
At 4:26 pm, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Valentine Avenue when he ran a stop sign and collided with the rear door of a vehicle heading westbound on Shields Avenue. Assisting deputies and emergency medical services arrived promptly to provide aid to the three individuals involved. All were transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The motorcyclist later died from his injuries. His passenger, a 22-year-old woman, is in critical condition. The driver of the car did not suffer any severe injuries.
Due to the collision occurring at an intersection within the city of Fresno, the Fresno Police Department is conducting the investigation.
The identity of the deceased man has not been released. It has been confirmed that he had an active arrest warrant for traffic-related offenses.
