Malaga Homicide Victim Identified

The homicide victim discovered in Malaga on April 30th, 2024, has been identified as 43-year-old Jonathan Franco of Fresno.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the victim, Jonathan Franco, was found with a gunshot wound to the upper body in an alleyway on S. Frank Ave. Homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to investigate the incident.

Detectives are currently investigating the case as possibly gang-related, as no suspect has been identified yet. The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with cameras in the area to come forward and share any potentially valuable video footage that could assist in the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office also revealed that residents in the area reported hearing possible gunshots between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm on Monday, although no official reports were made to law enforcement.

This incident marks the sixth homicide investigation conducted by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office in 2024.
