Cost of college went up for non-resident students at Clovis Community College

In-state tuition and fees were unchanged for 2018-19 at Clovis Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

California residents paid $1,304 to attend the two-year public institution in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.

Non-resident students would have paid 474.8 percent more than residents this year, or $7,496. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 7.9 percent from $6,944 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are California residents.

Data shows 63 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 465 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.4 million and 4 students took out student loans totaling more than $13,856.

Including all undergraduates (7,765), 4,197 students used grants or scholarships totaling $11.2 million, and 40 students took out $134,069 in federal student loans.
