313 coaches at institutions in Fresno County earned $95,239 on average in 2022

Fresno County’s 313 coaches earned an average salary of $95,239 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the fifth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at California post-secondary schools during 2022.

Fresno County is home to six post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, California State University-Fresno stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $249,662.

Male coaches of men's teams received $104,497 on average in Fresno County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $50,124.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
