U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said on May 13 that it arrested several criminal illegal aliens convicted of serious crimes as part of its ongoing enforcement actions during Police Week. The list included Alejandro Paulino-Espidio, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico convicted for arson involving an inhabited structure or property in Fresno, California, along with others convicted of murder in Kansas, child sexual assault in Texas, sex with a minor in California, and fentanyl distribution plus firearms offenses in Massachusetts.
The agency said these targeted operations are intended to remove convicted criminals from American communities while officers face rising threats in the line of duty. Local collaboration with federal authorities has produced arrests of individuals convicted of felonies ranging from crimes against persons and property to drug and sex offenses. ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations arrested 46,396 noncitizens with criminal histories in fiscal year 2022. Those individuals carried a total of 198,498 associated charges and convictions that included 21,531 assault offenses, 8,164 sex and sexual assault offenses, 5,554 weapons offenses, 1,501 homicide-related offenses, and 1,114 kidnapping offenses.
