He stated that "Elon Musk’s efforts to shut down The U.S. Agency for International Development is not just reckless – it's dangerous and cedes diplomatic ground to our competitors, like China."
In another tweet posted on the same day, Costa emphasized the importance of USAID by stating that "USAID provides critical aid to millions of people around the world, is a valuable soft power tool of US diplomacy, and cutting it off would devastate vulnerable communities."
