Rep. Jim Costa, who represents California’s 21st district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform this week to highlight recent legislative actions and express support for servicemembers and veterans.

On May 15, Costa posted: “This week I was proud to support the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill, which includes key investments to support our veterans, servicemembers, and military families. The bill invests $138.2 billion in veterans’ health care programs, $54.6 billion”.

The following day, on May 16, he marked Armed Forces Day by writing: “On #ArmedForcesDay, we honor the brave men and women serving in all six branches of our Armed Forces. Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to defending our nation help protect the freedoms and liberties we hold dear. Today, and every day, we thank them for their service and”.

Later on May 16, Costa encouraged constituents to stay engaged with legislative developments by stating: “Stay informed on the issues that matter most to our Valley — and how I’m fighting for YOU in Congress. Join my newsletter for updates from Washington and resources for our community.”

Costa has served as a member of Congress since 2005 after succeeding Cal Dooley. He previously held positions in both the California State Assembly from 1978 to 1994 and the California Senate from 1994 to 2002. Born in Fresno in 1952, Costa continues to reside there and holds a BA from California State University, Fresno.
