Rep. Jim Costa, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 21st district, shared several updates on June 8, 2025, via social media regarding key issues affecting his constituents and international affairs.
In a post made at midnight UTC, Rep. Costa announced significant funding for local infrastructure: “Great news for the Valley: $255 million is headed to the B.F. Sisk Dam Safety Project.” He emphasized that this investment represents “a major step toward protecting our communities and securing our water future.”
Later in the day, at approximately 4:54 AM UTC, Costa addressed geopolitical concerns by commenting on Russia’s actions in Eastern Europe. He stated, “Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is part of a broader plan—to bring back the Soviet Union and empower autocrats worldwide.” He further elaborated on his stance during discussions with the House Foreign Affairs Committee, asserting that “if democracy is to survive, America must stand with Ukraine.”
By noon UTC on the same day, Costa turned his attention to domestic policy issues related to healthcare. In his tweet he expressed concern over current healthcare systems by stating: “Healthcare isn’t a reality show.” He insisted that “Americans deserve better than a system that leaves the most vulnerable behind.”
