Rep. Jim Costa, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 21st district since 2005, has recently used his social media platform to comment on federal policy decisions and honor military service members and veterans.

On November 8, 2025, Costa criticized recent administrative actions affecting food access, stating: “No family in my district or across the nation deserves to have their food access stripped away because of the Administration’s reckless back-and-forth decisions, which is what the federal appeals court ruled today. In the richest nation in the world, it is outrageous that we”.

In a post dated November 10, 2025, Costa recognized the anniversary of the United States Marine Corps: “Happy Birthday to the @USMC! For 250 years, the brave men and women of the Marine Corps have courageously and selflessly served our nation. Today, we honor their service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting our freedoms.”

The following day, on November 11, he shared his experience honoring local veterans: “Over the weekend, I had the honor, once again this year, of presenting medals to eight local veterans. From the Korean War to the Vietnam War, these brave men and women answered the call to serve and defend our freedoms. We owe them our deepest gratitude and must always honor”.

Costa has represented California’s 21st District in Congress since succeeding Cal Dooley in 2005. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both chambers of California’s state legislature from 1978 through 2002. Born in Fresno in 1952 and a graduate of California State University, Fresno (1974), Costa remains a resident of Fresno as he continues his legislative work.
