Rep. Jim Costa, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 21st district, addressed a range of issues affecting his constituents in a series of tweets on July 16, 2025.
In a post made at 11:55 AM UTC, Costa criticized the Trump administration for freezing funding to local school districts, stating, “The Trump administration froze funding that our local school districts depend on. TODAY I’ll be on @KMPHFOX26 Great Day at 6:40 AM (PDT) / 9:40 AM (EST) to talk about what I’m doing to get those federal dollars back.”
Later that day at 2:54 PM UTC, he highlighted the breadth of topics discussed in a recent interview by tweeting, “From tariffs to education, we covered a lot of major issues affecting the people of our Valley. Check out my interview! https://t.co/MJt3U5tnsL”
At 2:58 PM UTC, Costa raised concerns about government waste regarding emergency food supplies with another post: “This administration is torching 500 tons of emergency food—enough to feed 1.5 million children around the world. Taxpayers paid $800,000 for it. Now we’re footing the bill to burn it? Absurd.”
Costa has served in Congress since replacing Cal Dooley in 2005 and previously held positions in both the California State Assembly and Senate. Born and residing in Fresno, California, Costa graduated from California State University, Fresno in 1974.
