Rep. Jim Costa, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 21st district, has recently shared his views and upcoming initiatives through a series of tweets. Known for his commitment to various social issues, Costa has served in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Cal Dooley and has previously held positions in both the California State Assembly and Senate.
On June 1, 2025, Rep. Jim Costa expressed his support for the LGBTQ+ community by acknowledging “Happy #PrideMonth! This month, we celebrate the resilience and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community.” He emphasized his dedication to advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and promoting equality.
The following day, on June 2, 2025, Costa addressed an incident involving antisemitic violence in Boulder: “This hateful act of terror against the Jewish community in Boulder on the eve of Shavuot is part of a disturbing rise in antisemitic violence that we must confront head-on.” He called for unity against such acts and stressed that antisemitism has no place in America.
On June 3, 2025, Costa announced an event aimed at providing assistance to constituents: “Join us on Friday, June 6th, in Parlier, CA, for mobile casework assistance.” The event will offer help with Social Security and Veterans’ issues among other services.
Jim Costa was born in Fresno, California in 1952. A graduate from California State University with a BA obtained in 1974; he continues to reside there today.
