Jim Costa, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 21st district, shared several thoughts on social media on May 6, 2025. His posts covered cultural celebrations, infrastructure projects, and legislative initiatives.
On May 6, Costa acknowledged Cinco de Mayo by celebrating Mexico’s cultural contributions. He stated, “Today, we celebrate Cinco de Mayo – a time to honor Mexico’s rich history, culture, and heritage. Wishing everyone a joyful day filled with music, community, and celebration!”
Later that day, Costa addressed comments made by the President regarding California’s High-Speed Rail project. He criticized the remarks as misleading and emphasized the project’s benefits: “There you go again, Mr. President! Your misleading comments and outrageous distortions of California’s High-Speed Rail project were evident today.” Costa highlighted that the initiative is crucial for job creation and environmental improvement in California.
In another post on May 6th, Costa discussed his efforts to improve postal services across America. He announced new legislation aimed at modernizing the United States Postal Service: “Every American deserves reliable, timely postal service – no matter where they live.” The FAIR Fleets Act was introduced in collaboration with Rep. David Valadao to ensure equitable postal services for both urban and rural communities.
Jim Costa has been serving in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Cal Dooley. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in both the California State Assembly and Senate. Born in Fresno in 1952 and an alumnus of California State University, Fresno, Costa continues to reside in his hometown.
