Representative Jim Costa, who has served California’s 21st District in the U.S. Congress since 2005, recently shared a series of updates on key legislative and policy issues via social media. The posts addressed topics ranging from agricultural labor reform to funding for victim services and access to dialysis care.
On July 15, 2025, Costa discussed a bipartisan conversation about the future of agricultural labor reform. He stated, “Just wrapped a bipartisan fireside chat with @CenterForwardUS on the future of ag labor reform. The Farm Workforce Modernization Act is the bipartisan fix we need to protect farmworkers and secure our food supply.”
In a post dated July 16, 2025, Costa raised concerns regarding delays in Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding. He wrote, “Delays in VOCA funding put critical, life-saving services for survivors at risk. That’s why I led 33 of my colleagues in calling on the Trump Administration to release the Fiscal Year 2025 allocation tables and the distribution of these vital grants, so victims aren’t left”.
Later that day, Costa highlighted his engagement with patients reliant on dialysis treatment in California’s Central Valley. He posted on July 16, 2025: “Dialysis is life-saving care. I met with Valley patients who rely on dialysis to discuss legislation that would be critical to them and their families. I’m working to protect life-saving care for Valley families because no one should be left behind.”
Jim Costa was born in Fresno, California in 1952 and continues to reside there. A graduate of California State University, Fresno (class of 1974), he began his legislative career in the California State Assembly before moving on to serve in both the California Senate and U.S. Congress.
