On Wednesday afternoon, Tiffany Slaton, a 27-year-old from Jeffersonville, Georgia, was found safe near Lake Edison in Fresno County. The owner of Vermilion Valley Resort discovered her occupying one of his cabins while checking on his property. Aware of the search for a missing woman matching her description, he contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies met with the resort owner at Kaiser Pass Road after he had transported Tiffany to a staging point. Medics assessed her condition and found she was dehydrated but otherwise healthy. She was taken to a hospital for further observation. The detective overseeing the case informed Tiffany’s parents in Georgia about her discovery.
The road from Kaiser Pass to Lake Edison had been blocked by snow until it was cleared on Wednesday, allowing access to the area. The resort owner had left a cabin unlocked as a precautionary measure for lost individuals seeking shelter.
Tiffany’s family reported her missing on April 29th after not hearing from her for nine days. Alerts were issued by the Sheriff’s Office as they searched and received community tips regarding sightings of Tiffany at Huntington Lake on April 20th and near Cressman’s General Store on April 24th.
From May 6th to 10th, a full-scale search operation covered nearly 600 square miles across various locations but failed to locate Tiffany due to impassable roads and lack of traces found by helicopter crews in key areas.
Detectives are planning to meet with Tiffany to understand more about her experience during this period.
