Jim Costa, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 21st district since 2005, recently shared his thoughts and updates on social media. Costa, who succeeded Cal Dooley in Congress and has an extensive history in state politics, including terms in both the California State Assembly and Senate, continues to engage with constituents through various platforms.
On May 19, 2025, Costa expressed support for President Joe Biden amidst his health challenges. He stated, “President Joe Biden has dedicated his life to this nation with unwavering grit and grace. As he battles with prostate cancer, my heartfelt prayers are with him and his family. In times like these, we must rise above politics and stand united in compassion.”
Later that day, Costa criticized policy proposals by former President Trump and House Republicans. He highlighted potential cuts to social services: “Imagine being forced to skip meals or lose your health care—just so billionaires can pocket another tax break. That’s exactly what Trump and House Republicans are pushing: 13 million cut from Medicaid 3 million lose food assistance We only need 4 Republicans to stop it.”
On May 20, 2025, Costa announced a community engagement initiative via Twitter. He invited constituents to attend Mobile Casework Hours at the Orange Cove Food Distribution center: “Tomorrow, my team will be hosting Mobile Casework Hours at the Orange Cove Food Distribution from 9 AM to 12 PM. Need help with a federal agency? Stop by and speak with Team Costa! Learn more here https://t.co/EButPW9tdu”
Jim Costa was born in Fresno, California in 1952 and currently resides there. He graduated from California State University, Fresno in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
