Jim Costa, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 21st District, recently shared his perspectives on vital issues through a series of tweets. Costa has been in Congress since 2005, following a political career in the California State Assembly and Senate. Born in Fresno in 1952, Costa continues to engage actively in matters affecting both national and local communities.
On May 1, 2025, Costa expressed his concern regarding educational funding, emphasizing the importance of holding the Department of Education accountable and protecting public education. He stated, “Our tax dollars are meant to support students and schools — not tear down the Department of Education. That’s why I signed an amicus brief in State of New York v. Linda McMahon to protect public education and demand accountability.”
Later on the same day, Costa acknowledged Autism Acceptance Month as April concluded. He tweeted about the need to support individuals with autism, stating, “As we wrap up the month of April, we honor Autism Acceptance Month – a time to celebrate and support the diverse experiences of individuals with autism. Every person and child deserves to feel accepted just as they are.”
In another post, Costa addressed potential issues stemming from USDA layoffs, which he warned could lead to significant consequences, such as increased food prices and disruptions to the supply chain. He remarked, “USDA layoffs = higher food prices, fewer food options, and supply chain disruptions. I sent a letter demanding the USDA reverse course. Americans deserve better.”
These tweets highlight Costa’s ongoing commitment to public service, focusing on education, social inclusion, and economic stability. Born and educated in Fresno, Costa has utilized his platform to voice concerns that mirror the interests and needs of his constituency.
