Rep. Jim Costa, a longstanding member of Congress representing California’s 21st district since 2005, shared his thoughts and recognitions on Twitter recently, addressing various notable events and figures. Costa, who has also served in the California State Assembly and Senate, posted these sentiments in late April 2025.
On April 26, Costa tweeted about local community leaders being honored at the Trailblazers Awards Luncheon. He expressed gratitude for their inspiring leadership, writing “Congratulations to our local community leaders honored at this year’s 11th Annual Trailblazers Awards Luncheon! Our Valley is fortunate to have such inspiring leaders paving the path for our youth and future generations.”
Later that same day, Costa commented on the passing of a significant global religious figure. He mourned publicly, stating “The world has lost a true moral voice. But his legacy will continue to guide the world. Rest in peace, Pope Francis.” Costa’s words reflect the widespread impact of Pope Francis’ leadership.
On April 28, he honored a WWII hero, Guadalupe Castillo, who had recently passed away at the age of 100. Costa highlighted Castillo’s bravery and contributions, noting “Few have lived a life as heroic as Guadalupe Castillo. A WWII hero of D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge, he served his country and community for a century. At 100, he leaves behind a legacy we must never forget.”
Costa, born in Fresno in 1952 and residing there today, has spent decades in public service, graduating from California State University, Fresno in 1974 and contributing significantly to his district and community.
