Rep. Jim Costa, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 21st district since 2005, used his social media platform this week to highlight National Police Week, recognize Western Growers’ centennial anniversary, and honor the nation’s military personnel.
On May 13, Costa posted about National Police Week, stating “This week marks #NationalPoliceWeek, a time to honor the brave law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities and our nation. As we continue through this week, we remember those who gave their lives protecting others, and we also”.
Two days later on May 15, Costa addressed National Military Appreciation Month by posting “On this #NationalMilitaryAppreciationMonth, we honor and recognize the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, including our veterans, active duty servicemembers, and their families. Costa has represented California’s 21st District in Congress since succeeding Cal Dooley in 2005. Prior to his congressional tenure he served in both chambers of the California legislature—first as a member of the State Assembly from 1978 until 1994 before joining the State Senate until 2002. Born in Fresno in 1952 and currently residing there at age 71, Costa graduated from California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974.
