Rep. Jim Costa, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 21st district since 2005, recently highlighted several initiatives and events in a series of posts on his social media account.
On April 11, 2026, Costa praised the Artemis II crew, stating: “So proud of the Artemis II crew. They took on something extraordinary and reminded the country what’s possible, that in America we can still do big things, inspiring the next generation of explorers. In Congress, we have a responsibility to keep that spirit of exploration”.
In another post dated April 13, 2026, Costa announced new federal support for early childhood education programs in his district: ” FUNDING ALERT! Proud to announce $25.6M secured for Head Start programs in Fresno and Tulare Counties. At a time when families are feeling the strain, Head Start continues to make a real difference—preparing young children for school and giving parents the support they need”.
Later that same day, he called attention to an opportunity for local students: ” CALLING ALL CA-21 ART STUDENTS: This is the final week to submit your artwork for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition! All submissions are due Friday, April 17 at 5:00 PM. Still want to participate? Check out the link below for details https://t.co/aSIuO4Bv5B”.
Costa has represented California’s 21st District since replacing Cal Dooley in 2005 and previously served in both chambers of California’s state legislature from 1978 through 2002. Born in Fresno in 1952 and currently residing there, Costa is also an alumnus of California State University, Fresno.
