Jim Costa, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 21st district, recently took to social media to express his views on current events and offer messages of gratitude and celebration. Costa, who has been in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Cal Dooley, also served in the California State Assembly and Senate before his tenure in Congress.
On June 15, 2025, Costa addressed the issue of political violence with a message urging unity against hate and extremism. He stated: “This cannot be normalized. Political violence has no place in our country. My heart goes out to the victims, their families and the people of Minnesota.” His post highlighted the need for solidarity among Americans.
Later that day, Costa acknowledged the contributions of military personnel from his region. In a tweet commemorating the U.S. Army’s longstanding service, he wrote: “For 250 years, the U.S. Army has stood strong. Here in the San Joaquin Valley, we’re proud of the many soldiers, veterans, and military families who call our region home.” He expressed gratitude for their service.
On June 16, 2025, Costa extended warm wishes on Father’s Day to those in his constituency. He tweeted: “Wishing a very Happy Father’s Day to every dad, grandpa, and father figure in the San Joaquin Valley.” This message was directed at celebrating fathers and father figures within his community.
Costa was born in Fresno, California in 1952 and currently resides there at age 71. He graduated from California State University, Fresno with a BA in 1974.
