Jim Costa, a longstanding U.S. Congressman representing California’s 21st district since 2005, recently addressed several pressing issues through social media posts. These tweets cover topics ranging from food insecurity in the Central Valley to international trade relations and geopolitical tensions.
On May 7, 2025, Costa highlighted the persistent issue of food insecurity in the Central Valley despite its role in feeding the nation. He mentioned his meeting with McKay Duran, Public Policy and Advocacy Manager at the Central California Food Bank, where they discussed “the importance of SNAP, current operations, and the Farm Bill.”
In another tweet on the same day, Costa emphasized the necessity of strong transatlantic relationships amidst ongoing trade tensions. He shared that he met with Ángeles Moreno Bau, Ambassador of Spain, to discuss “ongoing tariffs, strong transatlantic partnerships, and global challenges.”
Later that day, as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee (@HouseForeign), Costa expressed concern over escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. He stressed that “stability in South Asia is essential not only for regional peace but for global security and United States strategic interests.”
