A man who died after a shooting on Saturday night in Fresno has been identified as 23-year-old Banwari Godara. According to authorities, Godara had recently lived in Fresno but was originally from San Jose. No arrests have been made in connection with his death.
The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on October 18, when Fresno Police officers responded to a shopping center at Shaw and Brawley Avenues in northwest Fresno. Officers found two men near an urgent care center suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel transported both individuals to Community Regional Medical Center. Godara died as a result of his injuries, while the other victim, a 21-year-old man, was treated and released.
Fresno Police later determined that the shooting took place near a truck repair yard along the 5400 block of S. Cedar Ave., which is located in an unincorporated area of Fresno County. The police contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office to take over the investigation.
Deputies arrived at the truck yard and found evidence indicating it was the scene of the crime. Homicide detectives were dispatched to further investigate. They learned that after being shot, both victims left the scene in a vehicle with another person before stopping at the urgent care center.
