The Fresno County Board of Supervisors has approved an increase in fees for obtaining and renewing Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permits. The decision was made during a hearing held on October 21, 2025, and the new rates will be implemented starting November 19, 2025.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the fee adjustment is intended to cover operating costs, including employee salaries and benefits. The office emphasized that it does not profit from issuing CCW permits, describing the change as cost neutral.

“The last approved fee adjustment for CCW permits occurred in 2007. Since then, the volume and complexity of permit processing has increased as California laws have changed. This includes: Background checks, administrative requirements and staffing needs. The newly approved rates are intended to align fees with the actual cost of providing these services,” stated the Sheriff’s Office.

Under the new schedule, the cost for a new CCW permit will rise from $219 to $297, an increase of $78. Renewing a permit will now cost $136 instead of $83, marking a $53 increase. Fees for modifications such as address updates or adding or removing a firearm will remain at $10. These totals include charges from the Sheriff’s Office, state fees, and online vendor Permitium.
