Jim Costa, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 21st district, recently shared insights into his activities through a series of tweets on June 12, 2025. Costa has been serving in Congress since 2005 and has a history of public service dating back to his time in the California State Assembly and Senate.
On June 12, Costa highlighted the importance of meeting with local partners to raise awareness about potential risks to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). He mentioned his meeting with Ben Moore, founder of the Ugly Company, which upcycles imperfect fruit into clean, additive-free dried snacks. Costa noted that this initiative showcases “how local innovation can fight food waste and support” local communities.
Later that day, Costa met with students from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), including two constituents from California’s 21st district. The program aims to empower young Latino leaders by fostering civic engagement and exploring public service opportunities. Costa emphasized that these students represent “the next generation of leadership” in their communities.
In another tweet posted on June 12, Costa shared his experience at the Congressional Baseball game alongside D.C. interns. He described it as “always a fun night in Washington,” supporting local charities while cheering on colleagues at the event.
Jim Costa was born in Fresno, California in 1952 and continues to reside there today. He graduated from California State University, Fresno in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
