SAN JOAQUIN COLLEGE OF LAW: O’Neill Drive Sets Another Record

Legalbooks 1000x667

San Joaquin College Of Law recently issued the following announcement.

SJCL had a lofty goal for this year’s Elizabeth O’Neill Book Drive: Fill the shelves of a brand new K-6 elementary school under construction in Clovis Unified. Janet Young Elementary School (YES) will welcome 600 to 800 students this fall. YES Principal Kacey Gibson and Office Manager Melanie Allen stopped by the Law School in February to pick up the first 1,001 books already donated to this year’s haul.

Principal Gibson says they were shocked to hear that library books cost an average of $20.00 each, so the thousand-book pile is a true windfall! The O’Neill Drive wrapped up at the end of March with another 181 books awaiting pick up. That donation will sit in storage until “shelter in place” winds down. In the meantime, special thanks to those all who donated, including Phil and Linda Tavlian (Linda went to high school with Janet Young) and Fig Garden Friends of the Library, which kicked in over 300 books. This is the 12th year for the O’Neill Drive, and this year’s total of 1,182 books breaks the previous record of 1,133 books!
